Our Mission
To help our customers burn less oil and provide state of the art alternative energy solutions.
Dear Valued Customer and Neighbor,

Joanne Lamprey
President
Hello all,
The holiday season seems a natural time to pause and reflect on all your suggestions and letters thanking our technicians and staff for all their wonderful and gracious help they have been able to give you. I love to get your feedback, letters, email, and phone calls.
Our greatest honor & gift is that you have chosen us, Lamprey Brothers, as your home comfort provider. We appreciate your loyalty and will continue with our commitment to providing each of you with the best value and service. Thank you.
It is also the time to be thoughtful and generous to those who have fallen on difficult times. We pray for the homeless and for those who are hungry. We ask that you be as generous as you can over these cold winter months. We are offering gift certificates for purchase which can be used for oil, propane, service agreements, service, and in some instances equipment.
As we did last year, we will be gathering "Toys for Tots" and warm coats for distribution.
Come by and drop off your toys and coats and meet our office staff. We are fostering neighbors helping neighbors, so please look for opportunities to shovel out a path, a fill pipe, or a mailbox. Pick up a newspaper left next to the road and deliver it to your neighbors. Take note and report if there has been no activity at the house next door, particularly for your senior neighbors.
Sometimes we get so busy, we forget to stop, look around and recognize those who could use a little help.
This is our last newsletter before the Holidays, so please remember our goal is to help you be as informed and knowledgeable about the many solutions available to you, so you can make decisions that work best for you and your family's needs with safety and energy savings foremost on our mind.
And remember in the event of a power outage, your furnace/boiler and sump pump will not run. We are available 24/7, even if the power is out. We are here to help.
As always I am delighted to hear any feedback, so please do not hesitate to email me at jlamprey@lampreybrothers.com.
With Many Thanks and Warm Wishes For a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season!!
Sincerely,
Joanne Lamprey
President

What's New?
First Things First - Start with the Attic
Often homeowners are so excited to commit to the latest in high tech heating, cooling, and alternative energy solutions. They miss the most obvious way to reduce energy and save money.
According to the Department of Energy, it is recommending that attics in New England have an insulation rating of R49 to R60. That's equivalent to 18 to 22 inches.
Many homes are less than half the recommended rating. A simple inspection of your attic could determine if you should invest initially in recycled fiberglass insulation from Owens Corning and eliminate 20% heat loss through your attic.
Take advantage of Federal Tax Credits.

Money Saving Tips
Here are simple ways to save money and be more comfortable this winter:

- Have your system cleaned and serviced yearly to keep heat output at the highest efficiency level. A lack of regular maintenance forces your system to work longer, causing you to burn up to 10% more fuel. Annual service also extends the life of your system and minimizes breakdowns.
- Do not block vents, radiators, or baseboards with any furniture or heavy drapes.
- A dirty vent, radiator or baseboard hinders heat output. Dust regularly.
- Place metal reflectors (cardboard wrapped in aluminum foil works just as well) behind radiators or above your base-boards to “bounce” the heat toward the center of the room.
- Inspect air filter monthly for dust and dirt and replace at least quarterly.
- Insulate air ducts that pass through unheated spaces, check your ducts for any leaks.*
- Seal air leaks around doors and windows with caulking, weather stripping, or sheets of plastic. Ensure windows are latched to reduce air leakage.
- Turn off kitchen, bath, and other exhaust fans within 20 minutes after you are finished cooking or bathing. When replacing exhaust fans, consider installing high-efficiency, lownoise models.
- During the heating season, open the draperies and shades on your south-facing windows during the day to allow the sunlight to help heat your home. Close them at night to help reduce heat loss through the windows.
- Close your fireplace damper when not in use. When in use, lower the thermostat setting to 50-55 degrees.
- Set your thermostat as low as is comfortable in the winter. Lowering your thermostat by 2 degrees than usual is a good starting point.
* warm-air systems only
Extra tips to ensure safety this winter
- Check batteries and inspect smoke detectors.
- To avoid fire hazard and to provide sufficient combustion air be sure heating system has a 3 foot clearance of debris.
- Report signs of water or oil drips.
- If you smell smoke call your Fire Dept.
