North Hampton, NH – Lamprey Brothers, a local oil company, has recently become the first oil company in New England to be deemed an ENERGY STAR Retail Partner. 

“We are so proud of this accomplishment,” says Joanne Lamprey, President of Lamprey Brothers.  “It tells us that we are on the right path, by offering our customers choices from alternative energy solutions such as solar and geothermal to upgrading their existing heating and cooling equipment with energy efficient ratings.  This announcement can give our customers and community a sense of pride, knowing that we are all truly working towards making a difference for current and future generations.”

Lamprey Brothers' history as an oil dealer has evolved over the years to a home comfort provider.  And in the last year they have taken an innovative approach, by educating their customers about products such as solar and geothermal.  These alternative energy solutions will help customers reduce their fossil fuel consumption, lower their energy bills and in turn, lower the impact on the environment.  In addition to alternative energy solutions, much of their traditional heating and cooling equipment is ENERGY STAR rated. 

“Many companies say they are ‘going green’,” says, Julia Dundorf, Co-Director of the New Hampshire Carbon Challenge (NHCC).  “But Lamprey Brothers is actually providing solutions with results that show true commitment to the environment, proving that the environment really does matter to them.  It’s these kinds of innovative companies that are proving we do not need to be fearful of taking action on climate change and other environmental issues, but rather embrace the opportunities that exist.” 

According to Dundorf, an estimated 40% of all greenhouse gas emissions in the United States (which lead to climate change) are from the residential sector; including home heating, electricity consumption and our transportation choices.  This is a significant part of the climate crisis but also a substantial opportunity for action. 

“The environment has become one of our stakeholders in the company,” says Lamprey.  “We take it into account when we make decisions, this accomplishment shows that we are not just talking the talk…we are walking the walk.”
