Lamprey Brothers Hosts First Oil Tank Certification Course on the Seacoast

09/26/2007... North Hampton, NH - Thanks to the help of the Greater Seacoast Chapter of the National Association of Oil Heating Service Managers (NAOHSM), Lamprey Brothers was able to provide this training at no cost to the technicians and drivers.  Educating frontline employees to install oil tanks that meet the national code requirements, and are able to prevent and fix problems with existing oil tanks is the reason that Lamprey Brothers recently hosted the first oil tank certification course on the Seacoast.  The all day seminar attendees included Lamprey Brothers technicians, oil truck drivers, and their sales team, as well as technicians and oil truck drivers from other companies around the Seacoast.

Lamprey Brothers, now oil tank certified, has also taken the time to ensure that all of their technicians, oil truck drivers and sales team are certified so they can better assist their customers.  “Oil tank problems need to be addressed proactively,” said Joanne Lamprey, President of Lamprey Brothers.  “This training has given our frontline staff the proper tools to diagnose problems with our customers oil tanks, enabling them to make honest assessments and recommendations for our customers before a serious problem presents itself.”

Bob Hedden, oil heat Consultant and Educator and a co-founder of the National Oil Research Alliance (NORA), was on hand at Lamprey Brothers to certify technicians and oil truck drivers.  “One of the main problems for oil tanks is corrosion,” said Hedden during the full-day seminar.  “Homeowners with above ground oil tanks, both indoor and outdoor, can minimize the potential for corrosion by making certain there is plenty of breathing room around the tank so nothing is touching it,” Hedden adds, “having a professional check it as part of an annual preventive maintenance program is paramount.”

Heating with oil is a safe way to heat a home; it is not combustible and has one of the lowest risks of carbon monoxide poisoning.  Heating oil is also better for the environment, as today’s heating oil burns 95% cleaner than heating oil used in the 1970’s.  Also, heating oil warms homes quicker than other heating products saving the home owner time, money and increasing their comfort, making heating oil an efficient way to heat a home.

Rikk Yemma, a technician with Lamprey Brothers for two years believes, “This training was invaluable in terms of how we can help our customers at the initial inspection of their equipment. It gives our customers one less thing to worry about, and at the end of the day I can leave my job knowing that the home is a safer place for the family inside.”
