North Hampton, NH – Joanne Lamprey, president of Lamprey Brothers, has been honored by theUnited Way of the Greater Seacoast (UWGS) as the 2007 recipient of the Toqueville Society Award. This award is the United Way's highest honor for volunteers due to the level of personal and professional commitment put forth by the individual.
The Toqueville Society Award is given to an individual whose dedication and voluntary commitment to the community exemplifies exceptional leadership skills that engage people. UWGS Executive Director Sue Suter agrees and says, “Her incredible commitment to working with others for the benefit of our community makes her an especially deserving recipient of this award.”
Lamprey accepted the award with a surprised smile. She told her peers, “I am truly humbled and honored.”
Recently the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation recognized Lamprey as someone who is “changing the world.” Lamprey was noted as one of the most influential business people of our time for her campaigning on global climate change at the 2007 New Hampshire Charitable Foundation’s annual meeting. Lamprey says, “I am proud to receive this recognition, but I know there is along way to go. Our planet needs everyone’s help; we need to use less oil.”
“Working for Joanne is wonderful not only because of what she does for her employees, but I am proud to work for someone who believes so much in giving back to the community that we surround ourselves in,” says Amy Sittnick, a front line employee of six years in the accounting department. “It makes coming to work everyday worthwhile, there is a sense from everyone that we can all make a difference.”
Joanne, who serves as the current President on the Board of Directors for the NHSPCA, is also an active Advisory Board member for Families First in Portsmouth, NH.
